Dasara Movie Plot:

The film centers around Dharani, a young thief who lives with his grandmother in Veerlapally and steals coal for a living. Dharani spends most of his time with his best friends, Suri and Vennela, who he has been in love with since childhood. However, Dharani learns that Vennela loves Suri, and he decides to sacrifice his love for her happiness.

To help Suri secure a job at the famous Silk bar, Dharani makes him win a local cricket match, as announced by the village’s political rivals: Chinna Nambi and Rajanna. However, after Suri wins the sarpanch election and his marriage with Vennela is fixed, he and his friends are mysteriously killed, leaving Dharani and Vennela devastated.

Determined to seek revenge, Dharani investigates the matter and discovers that Chinna Nambi was responsible for Suri’s death due to his lust for Vennela. In order to protect her, Dharani marries Vennela, though she initially despises him for forcefully marrying her.

During the Dasara event, Chinna Nambi reveals his involvement in Suri’s death to Vennela, and Dharani manages to kill him in self-defense while his friends take care of Chinna Nambi’s men.

Dharani is arrested but later released, where he finally realizes the harmful effects of alcohol on the villagers’ lives and sets the bar on fire. Overall, the film showcases Dharani’s journey of love, sacrifice, and revenge, and it promises to be a gripping and emotional experience for viewers.

Dharani protects Vennela from Chinna Nambi by marrying her. At first, Vennela hates Dharani for forcefully marrying her, but she gradually grows fond of him.

On the day of Dasara, Chinna Nambi reveals to Vennela about his involvement in Suri’s death and Dharani’s love for her. Chinna Nambi hires men to kill Dharani and his friends at the Dasara event.

However, Dharani manages to kill Chinna Nambi, and his friends kill Chinna Nambi’s men. Dharani gets arrested but is released after a few years. He sets the bar on fire, finally realizing that the effects of alcohol will ruin the villagers’ lives.

“Dasara” is an upcoming Telugu film starring Nani in the lead role, directed by debutant Srikanth Odela, who has previously assisted Sukumar in “Nannaku Prematho” and “Rangasthalam”.
The film is produced by Sudhakar Cherukuri under his banner, Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Cinemas.
According to Nani, “Dasara” is a raw, rustic, and adrenaline-rush film, set in the backdrop of Singareni coal mines near Godavarikhani in Telangana.
Keerthy Suresh plays the female lead, marking her second collaboration with Nani after “Nenu Local”.
Other actors and actresses like Samuthirakani, Prakash Raj, Rajendra Prasad, Roshan Mathew, Sai Kumar, and Zarina Wahab were also signed to play pivotal roles.
Principal photography commenced in March 2022, and the third schedule commenced in July 2022.
The movie wrapped up shooting on 13 January 2023 and entered post-production ahead of its 30 March release.

“Dasara” was theatrically released on 30 March 2023 in Telugu and dubbed versions in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi languages.

Critical Response:

The Telugu film “Dasara” has received mixed to positive reviews from critics. Chirag Sehgal of News18 gave the movie 4 out of 5 stars, praising Nani’s performance, the action sequences, and the visual effects, especially in the climax sequence.

123Telugu gave the film 3.25 out of 5 stars, appreciating Nani’s outstanding performance, the technical aspects, and the gritty action drama, but found the second half to be laggy in some parts.

Neeshita Nyayapati of The Times of India rated the movie 3 out of 5 stars, stating that the film is a slow burn but Srikanth Odela and Nani make it work, though it does not reinvent the wheel.

Dasara movie has become a trendsetter in terms of budget and collections. The film’s makers have left no stone unturned to make this movie one of the most expensive films made in Telugu cinema history.

The producers reportedly spent around 100 crores on making this film, which is an enormous amount. However, considering the grandeur and the scale of the movie, it seems worth it.
